KS Radio: Envision Broadcast Merges With Rocking M Media

Envision has announced a merger between the Envision Broadcast Network and Rocking M Media, LLC, a Manhattan, Kan.-based media company.

The Envision Broadcast Network was formed in October 2014 when Envision acquired KKGQ 92.3 FM Q92 the Beat in Wichita. Envision’s desire to continue to grow and expand employment opportunities in the radio industry for people who are blind or visually impaired led to the merger, which represents a collaboration of ideals between Q92 and Rocking M Media.

“Having already employed individuals with vision loss at some of its existing stations, Rocking M Media shares Envision’s belief that people with all abilities should have access to meaningful career paths,” said Heather Hogan, Envision’s senior vice president of Foundation and Mission Services. “We’re proud of our successes with the Envision Broadcast Network and Q92. The fact that we found a radio group with the capacity to carry out our objectives on a much wider scale will propel our mission forward.”

“All it took was one visit to Envision for us to know the Envision Broadcast Network was something special,” said Christopher Miller, Rocking M Media president. “We are proud to work with Envision to build awareness and opportunity for a cause that deserves the highest level of visibility.”

Q92’s current on-air personalities who are blind or visually impaired will be brought into the Rocking M Media family. In addition, Rocking M Media will collaborate with Envision to take the Envision Broadcast Academy model to its entire multistate listening area. The Envision Broadcast Academy is a hands-on training program intended to equip youth and adults with vision loss with the skills and encouragement they need to explore high-tech careers in the radio industry.

Rachel's Fans Upset Over Thursday's Pre-emption

Fans of Rachel Maddow have expressed their disgust at 'sexist' NBC after the anchor was replaced on the show by Brian Williams who referred to the US missiles against Syria as 'beautiful'. According to the Daily Mail , Williams, the breaking news anchor for MSNBC, appeared during Maddow's 9pm slot when news broke that the US military fired more than 50 missiles at the al-Shayrat base in retaliation for a chemical weapons attack on civilians. Furious viewers accused the network of 'sexism' and said Maddow was more than competent to cover the news without any help from Williams. The news was covered by Williams as he is the breaking news anchor for the network, meaning that during major events he takes over the airwaves at MSNBC no matter who may be hosting at that time. All the other major networks did the same last night as well.

Angie’s List Rejects O’Reilly Boycott

More than 30 advertisers have fled the airwaves of “The O’Reilly Factor,” the most popular cable television show on the most popular cable network, after a New York Times report on previously unknown sexual harassment allegations against the host spurred yet another woman to step forward. According to The Washington Post , big brand names like Eli Lilly, Mercedes-Benz and Allstate are among the companies seeking distance from O’Reilly in an unusually bold snub that could create financial woes for the conservative firebrand and his bosses. In its statements about pulling its “O’Reilly Factor” advertising, Mercedes-Benz and Hyundai both called the allegations “disturbing.” Credit Karma used the word “concerning.” And many companies said they prioritized “diversity,” “a respectful and inclusive workplace environment” and only advertising on programs consistent with their “core values.” But one company has publicly announced the opposite, reported CNN Money. Angie’s List, the Indianapol...
